The police are on alert to secure the city of Manchester duo bigmatch between eternal rivals, Manchester City vs. Manchester United. Both teams top the Premier League will be met in the FA Cup third round match at Etihad Stadium on Sunday, January 8, 2012.
In the history, and MU ManCity meetings, always leave a bad record, especially among fans. In the match Carling Cup semi-final first leg at home to ManCity, two years ago, the police managed to capture 29 Manchester city fans riot involved.
No wonder the anticipation is often done ahead of the dueling club next door. Manchester City assistant police chief, Terry Sweeney, sent a warning to the fans to keep order as before, during and after the match takes place.
"Competition is very close between the two clubs to make something extra and this fight should really be embraced," Sweeney said as quoted by The Mirror, Saturday, January 7, 2012.
"But we also must ensure that this is no reason for anyone to cause a riot related to football. Both clubs often work with police to ensure the game is safe and can be enjoyed by all present at the stadium, "he explained.
For fans who caught the hand involved in the unrest, said Sweeney, will be sentenced to watch the match in the stadium ban. In addition to the game on alert around the venue, police patrols are also on guard at the center of Manchester, while some officers will secure a number of cafes which hold the event watching together.
